Creating and Innovating with Brick House Images since 2000.
Founder, Jared Brick has always possessed a sincere love of the visual image, photography, and films. From 5 years old he wanted to be a National Geographic Magazine photographer. He pursued this dream by graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts for Film Photography and Computer Imaging in 1998.
BHImages was started in 2000, after 3 great years working for the prestigious Aspen Skiing Company, running their events photography division in the snow and sunshine of the Rockies. Afterwards, he moved to Santa Cruz, CA and began his own freelance work as Assistant Photo Editor with Adventure Sports Journal. Over the years Jared grew Brick House Images with adventure sports photography, printed articles, private gallery work and even delved into video production. In 2003, he pursued the dream again by venturing over to Thailand and S.E. Asia to teach English and document unique cultures of the wild region of the world. Afterwards, he passionately returned to NYC with a renewed passion for photography and now documentary film. He began work in documentary work with Engel Entertainment (with National Geographic TV and History Channel shows) and continuing his documentary skills at the acclaimed, International Center of Photography in NYC. Jared has had numerous fine-art print showings of his photographic work.
In 2005, with the popularity of DSLR cameras and digital photography usage, Jared leveraged his teaching skills and began custom private photography lessons, now celebrating 10 years! He quickly realized a growing need for education in this digital arena and thus used his abilities to inspire others. He has now taught over 1,000 people of all ages, mostly in the SF Bay Area, Maui HI and now resides in Berkeley, CA. Jared’s private lessons have grown to be featured online classes and his freelance work is well-regarded. Purchases of his photographic work and lessons help to continue a childhood dream into this adult’s reality.
In 2009-10, while working and residing on Maui’s north shore, he was offered a film crew position on the first locally produced feature from Maui, called Get A Job. Upon this award-winning film, he served as a key set production manager and did film stills photography work. This enlarged his visual skills and added new experiences with his work in film. That same year Jared was accepted into the Presidio Graduate School for an MBA in Sustainable Management, in SF, CA. His first son, Kai was born the same weekend the MBA program began! Jared and his family relocated to Berkeley, CA for this challenging educational journey into triple bottom line business (people, planet, profits).
In 2012, after successfully completing this MBA program, Jared began to work for leading startup companies in the SF Bay Area including: Lyft, Lovely, Uber, Bolder and started his own with SFKeyz and TraX. In 2014, Jared was awarded Eco-Social Media Innovation for his mobile rewards program, traX by Stopwaste.org.
Since then Jared skillfully added on multimedia marketing services, including photo/video productions for local businesses. In 2014, Jared innovated crowdfunding consulting services for upcoming and existing online campaigns!
2015 bring even more creations with Brick House Media Co., a local production company for photo, video and audio projects created at Jared’s new venture project, Gryp! This is a member based multimedia collaborative production space in Oakland, CA for photographers, videographers and audio creators with rental studio space, media gear and community education for all. Stay tuned here to learn more.
